River Ure

The first pool-sessions in the new semester challenged numerous beginners of Kayak Northumbria in Newcastle Upon Tyne, but paddling straight ahead and getting out under water wasn't a problem. Therefore we drove to the campsite "Sleningford Watermill" in North-England. The River Ure offers a few hundred metres of beautiful class III whitewater. The sun warmed the day up nicely in mid October, but most people put on their dry suit, if they had one. After everybody was warmed up, we split into small groups and set about teaching people eddying in and out. Finally, the highlight for everyone was paddling the small whitewater rapid, which wasn't that much easier because of low water levels.
